However, in spite of all the goodies attached, they occasionally go through a few hiccups as well. Recently users had voiced their concern that they are facing an audio sync issue wherein the voice lags behind the video. While that bug was yet to be addressed, a new one has already made its way. As of now, numerous users have reported that the Sonos speakers and subs are not working along the expected lines.
There is no sound coming from the Surround (Play 3) as well as the Sub (Gen 2) and only arcs tend to function normally. A similar issue is observed whenever the user changes sources on audio [such as from ATV to UHD or Airplay to ATV]. While this bug is no doubt quite infuriating, to say the least, but there do exist a few nifty workarounds that shall help you resolve this issue. So without further ado, let’s check them out.
Fix Sonos Speakers and Subs Not Working after v14.6 Update
Head over to your TV’s Audio Output settings and set eArc to Off. On the other hand, set Passthrough Mode to Auto. Once you use these settings, the issue will no longer re-appear. However, doing so might also result in a drop in volume when using LPCM. But, that is a small price to pay if it ends up rectifying the issue. Apart from that, some have also reported that setting both eArc Passthrough Mode to Auto did the job for them. So you could opt for that setting as well and then test out the results. Just make sure not to go with the eArc Auto and Passthrough Off setting as it will definitely reproduce the error. If you don’t wish to take this technical route, then a few users were also able to rectify this issue by removing the Surrounds and Sub from the Home theatre configuration and adding them back again. So you may give this fix a try as well. On that note, we round off the guide on how you could fix the Sonos speakers and subs not working issue. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
